Rizwan Akmal

Rizwan Akmal is a founding partner of Hochheiser & Akmal. Mr. Akmal focuses on advising national and multinational companies on corporate and commercial transactions with an emphasis on mergers and acquisitions, sale of good transactions, software and technology transactions, joint venture and joint development transactions, licensing, distribution, and regulatory compliance.

Mr. Akmal regularly counsels corporations and their officers and directors on corporate governance and crisis management issues. His experience spans across many manufacturing, distribution, technology, and service industries including semi-conductor, electronic components, aerospace, software, information technology infrastructure, construction, business products and services, and beverage distribution.

Mr. Akmal regularly negotiates national and cross-border supply agreements, licensing and subscription agreements, master services agreements, and distribution agreements for U.S. corporations and their subsidiaries and affiliates throughout the world including the European Union and Asia. Representative transactions include successfully negotiating multi-year purchase and supply agreements with Fortune 500 companies including General Electric, Verizon, Lockheed Martin, Cisco Systems, Northrop Grumman, Apple, Raytheon, and United Technologies.

Mr. Akmal provides practical worldwide solutions to regulatory compliance including EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Restriction of Hazardous Substances. RoHS, also known as Directive (RoHS), Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE), International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), Federal Acquisition Regulation (FARS) and Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS).

Mr. Akmal regularly counsels clients in the beverage industry and has participated in key transactions including the transfer of brands to the Anheuser-Busch metro NY distributors in connection with the AB InBev consolidation and the sale of Blue Point Brewing Co. to Anheuser-Busch InBev.

He is a frequent lecturer at seminars on corporate and commercial transactions and data privacy and cybersecurity law.

Mr. Akmal is a member of the New York State Bar Association, Nassau County Bar Association, National Beer Wholesalers Association and New York State Beer Wholesalers Association.

Mr. Akmal received a Bachelor of Science in Finance from New York University in 2001. He received his Juris Doctorate from George Mason School of Law in 2004, where he was Associate Editor of the George Mason Law Review, a member of the Moot Court team, President of the George Mason Business Law Society and a Writing Fellow for the George Mason Legal Research, Writing and Analysis Program. Mr. Akmal is admitted to the New York State Bar.
